Writing the CV for the forklift driver role
Start your CV with your forklift certificates, per type of truck and with the year. Then state the number of years of experience and the environment you worked in, such as a distribution centre, a production hall or an outdoor yard.
In this role you work with valid certificates for the right trucks, and you operate the equipment safely and within the schedule. The type of environment and the height at which you store are details you can make concrete in your CV. Name them in the first lines.
What you do in this role
The work consists of loading and unloading trailers, moving pallets within the hall and storing goods on racking. Before the start of a shift you carry out the vehicle check according to the checklist, and any defects go in the logbook. You coordinate the order of the runs with the planner.
Keep the CV to one or two pages.
How your CV matches the advert
Read the advert and check which trucks, environment and heights the employer names. Only put certificates you currently hold on your CV. If a certificate has just expired, give the date of renewal or leave it off, so the reader does not have to guess.
The forklift, the reach truck and the heights at which you worked can all be named concretely in this role. Consider the environment too: a hall with fixed walkways calls for something different from an outdoor yard with changing weather. For each job, describe in one sentence what that environment demanded of you, so the reader sees your experience at a glance.
Check the trucks, the years and the names of the training centres. Then read your CV aloud and cut every sentence you cannot explain. A short, correct CV with the certificates at the top shows that you take the job seriously.
The inspection log and the daily checklist are the basis of safe work with equipment. Describe in your CV how you kept them and how you reported defects, with the workshop or the planner as your point of contact. That shows the reader you know the process, not just the certificate.
A pallet that is loaded wrongly poses a risk to the whole hall. Show in your CV that you checked the load before driving, for example by assessing the stability of the pallet or warning the planner. That sentence shows you look beyond your own vehicle.
A transport plan only works if the drivers and the planner understand each other well. Describe in your CV how you followed the plan, how you passed on a change and how you aligned with the planner on the order of the runs. That makes visible that you are part of the chain, not just the driver of one vehicle.
